  Samuel Robinson was born in 1785 in Glasslough, Monagham, Ireland. Sometime before 1808, Samuel married Ellen McCammon. They lived in Armagh, Ireland when his daughter, Nancy, was born in 1814. In 1829, he and his brother James Robinson came to the Dublin Range in Megantic County near Inverness, Quebec, Canada. It is believed he immigrated to Canada on the ship Brigham in 1828. We know that Nancy emigrated to Canada from Ireland in 1828 and went to Inverness. It is likely that she came with her father and other family members. Nancy and her husband William Gillis were married at Samuel Robinson's home. In the 1861 census, Samuel was living with his son Thomas and his family. Samuel Robinson is buried in Boutelles Cemetery in Inverness, Megantic County, Quebec, Canada. He died 14 Jun 1874 and is buried next to his wife Ellen McCammon Robinson who died 20 Apr 1852, at age 70.
