    • It was a very stormy day and the wedding party walked up to their knees in snow from the bride's father's home, Samuel Robinson, on the Dublin Range,
to the same place that another couple were also be married that day.  There were no roads there in those days so they had to walk.  After the wedding, the party walked back to Samuel Robinson's home.

They were married at the home of Alexander Learmoth, a Church of England minister, on Grays Road, near the present town of Inverness, Megantic County, Quebec.

Note:  Repertory of Births, Marriages, and Burials, "The Anglo-Protestants of Megantic County", 1826-1991, from the LDS Family Library, lists William Gillis and Nancy Robinson's marriage date as March 4, 1833; in Church of England, by Leeds, witnesses:  Alexander Learmoth and William Stele. • Notes
    • Rebecca (called Rae, some spelled Rebecka) was born 6/7/1854
(some records show 6/17/1854), the daughter of  William  &  Nancy
(Robinson) Gillis . She was baptised baptized May 23, 1859
Wesleyan Methodist, (Leeds). In the 1881 census of Canada,
Inverness East, Megantic County, Quebec, Rebecka was listed as
unmarried, 24 years old, of Irish origin, born in Quebec,
occupation: school teacher, religion: Methodist Canada. On the
census she was living with her sister,  Catherine Gillis , and Agnes
Kean, 16 years old. Rebecka's oldest sister Ellen was married to
Robert Kean - it is possible that Agnes was Rebecka's niece.

Rebecka married John Garvin, a merchant from Quebec, on
8/18/1881 at the Presbyterian Church (Inverness), witnessed by
Benjamin C. Gillis. She and John resided in Montreal, Canada. Rae
      died 11/16/1934.
