Their honeymoon consisted of a trip to Rutland, Vermont, where William was ordained as a minister and received his first appointment to the Methodist-Episcopal Church at Landgrove, Vermont. [4, 5]

  William McNab Gillis and Mary Elizabeth Codville Gillis, was born Jan 27, 1881 in Wardsboro, Vt in Windham county. Will was a school teacher. He married Grace Chamberlain, who died in 1919, and they had one son. Later, Will married Jessie Yerkes. They were married at the home of the bride's parents, with the Rev. W. M. Gillis , father of the groom, performing the ceremony. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Will had a teaching position. Will was well known for his beautiful singing and was a member of a large choral society in Minneapolis. In 1937, Will and Jessie moved to the Portland, Oregon area where Will was a self-employed grocer. Jessie died in 1970. William died in 1973 at the age of 92. [4, 5]
